Gout

Recently I have been having pain in my left ankle. I recently had gout in my big toe. Can this pain be due to gout?

Sure, it can. Gout is a disorder where excess uric acid is produced in the body and deposits in between the joint. The uric acid crystals incite and inflammatory reaction and cause pain. Pseudo gout is very similar to gout, except that the crystals are made of calcium. Gout tends to occur in the toe but can affect any joint in the body.

My best advice is see your doctor because often the pain is severe. You may need an x-ray to rule out a fracture. He/she may treat you with gout medications or may even aspirate the joint first.
